4. <br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: November 5, 2001 <br />TO: John Jermanis, City Manager <br />FROM: Hanson Hom, Community Development Director <br />BY: Matt Tomas, Planner III <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />ROVED AND FORWARDED <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />mo <br />John MS � 11 (9> <br />Cityager <br />City Council appointment of additional representatives to the citizen -based Housing <br />Element Ad Hoc Advisory Committee. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the City Council consider the additional prospective appointments <br />to the Housing Element Ad Hoc Advisory Committee (HEAC) in order to provide <br />representation from major employers in San Leandro on housing issues. An additional <br />inquiry was made from an agency (Center for Resources for Independent Living) that <br />serves the disabled community seeking participation with the HEAC. Staff supports <br />inclusion of this agency in the group. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City established the Housing Element Advisory Committee on September 17, 2001 <br />as part of the overall effort to update the Housing Element. The Council also directed <br />staff to seek out additional representation from San Leandro employers. <br />Staff has contacted some of the larger employers in the City and has developed the <br />following list of additional prospective representatives to include the following: <br />1. Kraft Foods (manufacturer) — Representative: Robert Atillo, or designee <br />2. San Leandro Hospital (institutional/service) — Representative: Judy Franco <br />— Administrative Coordinator <br />303 <br />
