CITY OF SAN LEANDRO STAFF REPORT CITY OF SAN LEANDRO STAFF REPORT DATE: January 28, 2000 APPROVED AND FORWARDED TO CITY COUNCIL Jo Jermanis f11D Ci anager ' C� 00- -c [115jo� TO: John Jermanis, City Manager FROM: Don Fleming, Development Services Director BY: Debbie Potter, Redevelopment Administrator SUBJECT: Matter of the San Leandro City Council's Approval of an Appointment to the West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard Redevelopment Advisory Committee (RAC) SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION There is one vacancy on the West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard Redevelopment Advisory Committee (RAC) due to the resignation of Sean C. Buran of Pacific Union Homes. Mr. Buran was elected to represent the West San Leandro Business Owners. The RAC unanimously recommend the appointment of Karen Thompson to this position. Ms. Thompson also works for Pacific Union and has followed the progress of the RAC with great interest since its inception. BACKGROUND The Redevelopment Advisory Committee (RAC) for the West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard Redevelopment Project Area is an elected advisory committee comprised of business and property owners and adjacent residents. This committee meets monthly and advises the San Leandro Redevelopment Agency/City Council concerning policy matters relating to implementing redevelopment in this project area. Representatives are divided between the two separate portions of the Redevelopment Area based on the size of the area. The larger West San Leandro portion of the Project Area has four (4) business owners/operators, four (4) property owners, and two (2) residents. The MacArthur Boulevard portion of the project area has two (2) business owners/operators, two (2) property owners and one (1) resident representative. Each of the original members was elected for three- year terms.
