Leave granted an employee under the above provisions shall <br />not be considered sick leave or deducted from accumulated <br />sick leave. <br />When an employee has been injured in the line of duty and <br />receives compensation in accordance with the provisions of <br />any Workers' Compensation Act of the State of California, <br />the Personnel Director shall have submitted to him/her <br />reports on the forms in the manner prescribed. <br />An employee injured in the line of duty who requires <br />medical care and/or physical therapy shall schedule, as far <br />as practicable, such appointments at a time so as to be as <br />least disruptive to the work schedule. <br />Modified Duty - It is the policy of the City to encourage <br />employee's to return to work as soon as possible. Every <br />effort will be made to accommodate to an employee's medical <br />needs to ensure a speedy return to work. An injured <br />employee is required to cooperate and comply with request <br />for information to facilitate the employees' return to <br />work, either on a modified basis or a return to full <br />duties. <br />Industrial Disability Management Program - The parties <br />agree to cooperate in the development of an industrial <br />disability management program. <br />Section 17. Hours of Work <br />A work week shall be computed as the number of hours <br />customarily considered as a full week's work in the <br />classification and in the department in which the person is <br />employed. <br />Employees assigned to the Water Pollution Control Plant who <br />are regularly assigned to eight (8) hour shifts starting at <br />or after 3:45 p.m. (swing) and ending at or prior to 8:00 <br />a.m. (graveyard) shall receive a shift differential of One <br />Hundred Fifty-five Dollars ($155) per month while so <br />assigned. Employees who are regularly assigned to provide <br />relief assignments for swing and/or graveyard shift(s) <br />shall receive a shift differential for the time spent <br />working on such shift(s). <br />It is understood that such shift differential shall be <br />included in the computations based upon the base rate for <br />purposes of overtime compensation, holiday, sick leave and <br />vacation leave pay where the employee has worked a shift <br />which requires payment of the differential, as provided in <br />the preceding paragraph, for thirty (30) days or more. <br />The setting of work hours is based upon the operational <br />needs of the department.
