City Council - 2 - July 12, 2000 <br />The City Clerk's Office received official notice from the Registrar of Voters Office on June 20, <br />2000, that 1,508 signatures had been verified as valid, rendering the petitions sufficient. <br />Pursuant to Elections Code 9114, if the petition is found sufficient, the elections official shall <br />certify the results of the examination to the Council at the next regular meeting. <br />This report serves as certification of the petitions to the City Council, this 17th day of July 2000. <br />The City Council thereby has the following obligations: <br />1. Submit the proposed Measure to the voters at the next Municipal Election occurring <br />not less than 88 days after the order of the legislative body, which is the General <br />Municipal Election, scheduled for November 7, 2000. <br />2. Request a fiscal analysis of the measure. <br />Fiscal Impact <br />Passage of this matter will reduce the General Fund Revenues by approximately $3.5 <br />million in FY 200-2001 and subsequent years. <br />CONCLUSION <br />The City Council has received certification of the petitions as being sufficient and therefore are <br />obligated to take action to place the matter on the ballot for voter consideration and to request a <br />fiscal analysis of the measure. <br />g:\c lerk\cc 1erk\e1ect2000\mernos\rpttpeti t ion. rpt <br />),19� <br />
