CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />Date: August 22, 2000 <br />To: John Jermanis, City Manager <br />From: Elizebeth Kings4s) <br />Interim Human eeor <br />Approved and Forwarded to the <br />City Council M 0 <br />Jo=ager <br />nnanis (al{/4 <br />Ci <br />Subject: Adoption of the Sexual Harassment/Discrimination Prevention Policy <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve a motion to adopt the Sexual <br />Harassment/Discrimination Prevention Policy. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Existing policy needed to be revised to reflect the latest changes in the Federal laws and <br />regulations. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Human Resources Department is in the process of reviewing the Personnel Procedure <br />Manual. It was determined that, based on the changes in laws and regulations, it is appropriate to <br />make the necessary revisions at this time. The revised policy will include sections on <br />responsibilities and obligations, and the actual procedure for investigating alleged sexual <br />harassment/discrimination complaints. This policy has been reviewed and approved by the City <br />Attorney's Office. <br />CONCLUSION <br />It is recommended that the City Council approve a motion to adopt the revised Sexual <br />Harassment/Discrimination Prevention Policy. <br />EM <br />
