W. "Watt' Bruner and Lee Bruner <br />and Ordering a Commemorative Brass Plaque. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />The Rules and Communications Committee recommended at the April 5, 1999 City Council <br />Meeting that the southwest corner of Estudillo Avenue and East 14t' Street be named after A. W. <br />"Watt" Bruner and Lee Bruner and that a commemorative bronze plaque be ordered <br />memorializing that decision. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Rules and Communications Committee met on March 23, 1999 and reviewed the request by <br />Vice Mayor Galvan to name the southwest area of Estudillo Avenue and East 14`h Street after A. <br />W. "Watt' Bruner and Lee Bruner. It was noted that there are two plaques already at that <br />location and that alternate locations could be the vicinity of the drinking fountain or in the flower <br />pot area in front of Lyons. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Rules and Communications Committee discussed the proposal and staff indicated that a 12" <br />x 16" bronze plaque as been estimated at approximately $300.00. The Committee proposed that <br />a plaque be ordered, checking the proposed language with the family, and to locate the plaque at <br />an appropriate location around the fountain or in the flower pot area. At the April 5, 1999 City <br />Council Meeting, the full Council requested that this item be placed on the next agenda in order <br />to allow public comment. <br />161 <br />
