Among Mayor Gill's many <br />outstanding characteristics and accomplishments are the following: <br />• He was always open and accessible to all citizens and staff and always willing <br />to listen to concerns and different points of view seeking common ground and <br />effective agreements. <br />• He worked closely with other government agencies, particularly with the San <br />Leandro Unified School District with which he built an active partnership on <br />community recreational projects which still benefit the youth of San Leandro; <br />• He effectively represented the Citv to its benefit on many regional boards and <br />commissions and was successful in obtaining federal funds to build the San <br />Leandro Library. <br />As you know the City has honored previous leaders by naming appropriate city sites after <br />them.
