whether it involves co-worker harassment, harassment by a supervisor or superior, <br />or harassment by or to persons doing business with or for the City. <br />Examples of sexual harassment depend on the facts and circumstances and can <br />include, but are not limited to, the following: <br />(1) Unwanted sexual advances or propositions that are verbal or in writing; <br />(2) Offering employment benefits such as support for appointments, promotion, <br />assignments, passage of probation, or good performance evaluations in <br />exchange for sexual favors; <br />(3) Making or threatening reprisals after a negative response to sexual advances; <br />(4) Implying or actually withholding support for appointments, promotion, <br />assignments, passage of probation, or suggesting that a poor performance <br />report will be prepared if requests for sexual favors are not met; <br />(5) Visual conduct such as leering, making sexual gestures, or displaying sexually <br />suggestive objects, pictures, cartoons, or posters; <br />(6) Verbal conduct such as making or repeating derogatory comments, epithets, <br />slurs, sexually explicit jokes, or comments about any employees body or <br />dress; <br />(7) Verbal abuse of a sexual nature, graphic verbal commentary about an <br />individuals body, sexually degrading words to describe an individual, or <br />suggestive or obscene letters, notes, or invitations; <br />(8) Physical conduct such as touching, assault, or impeding or blocking <br />movements; and <br />(9) Retaliation for reporting or threatening to report sexual harassment or <br />participating in an investigation. <br />2. Discrimination: Discrimination on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, <br />ancestry, religion, physical or mental disability, marital status, sexual orientation, <br />medical condition, age, or any other protected basis is prohibited. Examples of what <br />may be considered discrimination depend on the facts and circumstances, and may <br />include, but are not limited to the following: <br />(1) Hiring Practices. Refusing to hire an otherwise qualified candidate because <br />of that person's race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, physical or <br />mental disability, medical condition, marital status, sex, sexual orientation or <br />age. <br />2 10/31/00 <br />
