of employee wellness will continue to be addressed by the City <br />through, but not limited to, executive medical examinations, <br />workshops stressing weight control, nutrition, exercise, etc. <br />The City agrees to continue to provide to employees an Employee <br />Assistance Program. It is agreed that such program shall not be <br />an automatic substitution for appropriate disciplinary action <br />when such action is appropriate. <br />RETIREMENT <br />The City shall, for management staff, contribute to the Public <br />Employees' Retirement System (PERS) each pay period a portion of <br />the employee's contribution rate as established by law, equal to <br />seven percent (7%) of the employee's "compensation" as that term <br />is administered by the Board of Administration of PERS, for the <br />purpose of computing final compensation. Such contributions <br />shall be reported to PERS as special compensation. <br />The City shall maintain its contribution of the employees <br />contribution rate for public safety management staff to nine <br />(9%) percent. <br />The City's contract with the Public Employees Retirement System <br />provides retirement benefits for the 2% @ 55 retirement formula. <br />Such plan contains an after remarriage post survivor allowance <br />continuance. <br />Effective January 1, 1999, the City shall amend its contract with <br />the Public Employees Retirement Systems (PERS) to provide the <br />credit for unused sick leave benefit. <br />The City shall continue its contract with PERS to provide the <br />Military Service Credit as public service option (Section 21024). <br />COMPENSATION <br />Effective January 1, 1998, salaries shall be increased by two <br />(2%) percent for all unit classifications. <br />Effective July 1, 1998, salaries shall be increased by two (2%) <br />percent for all unit classifications. <br />Effective January 1, 1999, salaries shall be increased by three <br />(3%) percent for all unit classifications. <br />In addition to the increases set forth above, on January 1, 1998, <br />(simultaneous with, but not compounding with the increases set <br />forth above) salaries for classifications of Police Captain and <br />Police Lieutenant shall be increased by five (5%) percent.
