Therefore, the existing passenger loading zone must be reduced from 183 feet to 100 feet to accommodate the bus stop. The San Leandro Traffic Code lists an existing bus stop just west of Thoits Street, along the frontage of the school. However, there is currently no bus stop marked or signed at the listed location. Staff has reviewed the situation and has determined that the best location for a bus stop is one block easterly, adjacent to Costella Street. For the two buses needed to serve Washington Manor Middle School, the existing 127 foot long passenger loading zone must be eliminated. CONCLUSION It is recommended that the City Council amend the San Leandro Traffic Code by deleting the following language under Chapter 16, Section 1600, "Passenger Loading Zones": "CORVALLIS, east side, beginning 275 feet north of Farnsworth Street and extending 144 feet northerly," and "FARGO AVENUE, south side, starting at a point 52 feet east of the extended centerline of Dewey Street and extending 127 feet easterly" and amending "DAYTON AVENUE, south side, beginning 12 feet east of the easterly extension of Thoits Street and extending 183 feet easterly" to read "DAYTON AVENUE, south side, beginning 12 feet east of the easterly extension of Thoits Street and extending 100 feet easterly." It is also recommended that the City Council adopt a resolution to establish bus loading zones at the following locations: CORVALLIS STREET, north side, beginning 170 feet west of the west curb line of Farnsworth Street, extending 300 feet westerly, DAYTON AVENUE, south side, beginning 112 feet east of the east curb line of Thoits Street, extending 80 feet easterly, and FARGO AVENUE, south side, beginning 36 feet east of the east curb line of Dewey Street, extending 155 feet easterly.
