Strategic Plan
Advantages and disadvantages of switching to the Oro Loma plant for treatment are given
in Table 6-2.
TABLE `6-2. Currently the plant influent flows average about 63 mgd and
have been increasing at only about 1% per year. EBMUD feel that there is plenty of excess
capacity and that they could easily accept the City of San Leandro flows.
A forcemain and lift station would also be required to transfer flows from San Leandro to
EBN=. EBMUD staff has analyzed their existing sewer system and has determined that
the 51-inch or 63-inch portion of the EBMLJD South Interceptor could be utilized to deliver
raw sewage from San Leandro to the EBMUD plant. Three miles of pipeline are still
required to convey sewage from San Leandro to the 51-inch portion of the interceptor. In
addition, it will be necessary to equalize peak storm inflows at the San Leandro WWTP site
in order to reduce the peak flow to 12 mgd, which can be handled in the existing EBMUD
sewer system. The location of the possible new forcemain is shown in Figure 6-2. The costs
for the lift station, forcemain, and other facilities are given in Table 6-3.
00142.001 6-3
 114
