SEP-28-98 MON 10:10 AM SAN LEANDRO PUBLIC WORKS FAX NO, 5103521192 P,12
4463 EAST BAY
MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT
September 14, 1995
Mr, Robert Taylor, Director
Public Works Services - Maintenance
14200 Chapman Road
San Leandro, CA 94578
Dear Mr. Taylor:
MICHAEL J. WALLIS
010 CTCR OF WASTV} VAMR
In reply to your request, the East Bay Municipal Utility District (District) staff calculated the
District wastewater treatment charges and capacity fees usintv
g the San Leandro wastewater
plant's influent data provided by your consultant, Ms. Anb: Dong. As we discussed, this
assumes a contract for services between EBMUD and the City.
Since San Leandro's data did not include the Chemical Oxygen Demand Filtered (CODF)
information, the calculation was based on an estimated CODF concentration using the
District's CODF/BOD relationship adjusted to account for known high strength CODF
dischargers. Actual charges would be based upon monitoring results.
As presented in the attached table, the estimated annual wastewater treatment charges would
be approximately $2.1 million a year. The value of the treatment capacity, based on an
assumed application of wasting Wastewater Capacity Fee, is estimated to be $17.6 million.
However, the District has no experience with long-term contracts for service and this capacity
charge would be subject to negotiation.
If you have any questions, please call me at (510) 287-1615.
Sincerely,
MICIHAE J.
