COMMISSION PROFILE <br />Title of Commission: BOARD OF APPEALS <br />Description of Board Duties: <br />The Board of Appeals created under Section 7-5-110 of the San Leandro <br />Municipal Code shall hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions, or <br />determinations made by the Building Official or Fire Marshall relative to <br />application and interpretation of this Article. <br />The Board shall adopt reasonable rules and regulations for conducting its hearings <br />and shall render all of its decisions and findings in writing. The decision of the <br />Board shall be final and conclusive on matters relating to the suitability of <br />alternative materials and types of construction. Upon receipt of the Board's <br />written decision, the Building Official/Fire Marshall shall proceed in accordance <br />therewith. <br />The Board shall consist of five (5) members to be appointed by the Mayor, four <br />(4) of whom shall be registered civil engineers, all who are qualified by <br />experience and training to pass upon matters pertaining to building construction, <br />engineering, or fire inspection. In addition thereto, the Building Official shall be <br />an ex officio member, shall act as Secretary to the Board, and shall have a voice <br />but no vote.
