City of San Leandro <br />Civic Center, 835 E. 14th Street <br />San Leandro, California 94577 <br />October 27, 1998 <br />Valued Refuse Customer: <br />In order to maintain your current refuse disposal rates and stay competitive with the <br />surrounding areas, the City of San Leandro is changing the method of refuse collection. <br />On January 1, 1999 your refuse container must (1) be accessible for collection by either <br />driving onto the property with the owner's permission OR (2) having the container <br />available at the curb on collection day and returned to the property that evening. <br />Also, beginning January 1, 1999, the City of San Leandro will no longer maintain <br />privately owned containers. When your container becomes irrepairable or unsafe to <br />handle a City container must be used with a charge for depreciation and maintenance <br />added to the monthly fee. Private containers may not be purchased and used for disposal <br />of refuse after January 1, 1999. If you have any questions regarding the changes in <br />service, please call (510) 577-3452. <br />We are adding weekend collection for any customers that might need Saturday or Sunday <br />collection due to high volumes of refuse.
