CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />BY: <br />SUBJECT: <br />December 30, 1996 <br />Wandzia Grycz, Interim City Manager <br />June Catalano, Development Services Director <br />APPROVED AND FORW <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br />Wandzia <br />Interim ( <br />Joann Oliver, Community Standards Coordinator <br />St. Moritz Continuance <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />On November 18, 1996, the City Council continued the matter approving the Findings of Fact, <br />Conditions of Approval and the Monitoring Plan for the St. Moritz Apartments (SD-75-44), to the <br />January 6, 1997 City Council Meeting. The City Council continued the matter at the request of the <br />St. Moritz owner, Mr. John Sullivan, who indicated that he wanted an opportunity to work towards <br />a compromise with the neighborhood. <br />During the continuance period, Councilmember Polvorosa and Staff met independently with Mr. <br />Sullivan and with the Harold Avenue neighbors. Although a compromise has not yet been agreed <br />to, Mr. Sullivan and the Harold Avenue neighbors have indicated a willingness to develop a <br />compromise solution. Therefore, Staff recommends that the City Council continue the matter of <br />SD-75-44 for 30 days. <br />DISCUSSION <br />At the November 18, 1996 City Council meeting, Mr. Sullivan indicated that he would like an <br />opportunity to work with the Harold Avenue neighbors and develop a compromise solution. Based <br />on this request, the City Council continued the matter for 30 days. During the 30 day period, <br />Councilmember Polvorosa and Staff met independently with Mr. Sullivan and with representatives <br />of the St. Moritz. <br />Attached are copies of Mr. Sullivan's initial proposal to the neighborhood and the Harold Avenue <br />neighbor's response. Although a compromise has not yet been agreed to, both parties indicate a <br />willingness to continue negotiations. If the 30 day continuance is approved, Staff will continue to <br />facilitate communication between both parties. <br />iK <br />
