Several
weeks ago the Board of Zoning Adjustments denied this permit and we have appealed
that action to the City Council. This appeal is scheduled for hearing on September 15,
1997,
The conditional use permit was for operation of a concrete recycling operation at 2500
Davis Street in San Leandro_ At the time of the Board's action, there were unresolved
questions about the location of wetland areas at the site and the ability of the City to
grant a permit to grade the site. These questions have now been resolved and the
owners of the property have submitted a grading application to the City.
The City is currently completing environmental review of the application. That review will
be completed by mid -October, It would be more appropriate for the City Council to
consider the pending appeal after staff has completed its environmental review of the
grading permit application. This will allow the Council to consider the concrete recycling
operation in the context of the needs of the site for fill.
We would appreciate the City Council's cooperation in continuing the appeal until its
meeting in mid -October.
Very truly yours,
/G 2ZYLfi
Richard E.
