SAN LEANDRO EQUITY PLAN18 <br />City must establish and enforce core values, <br />principles, and protocols that center Diversity, <br />Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) as <br />foundational to creating a culture of Belonging. <br />Recommend that City-wide trainings <br />occur annually, and Department specific <br />training may occur more frequently as <br />needed. >>>New staff, commissioners, and elected officials <br />will have DEIB content in their onboarding training <br />materials, including history of indigenous Ohlone <br />people and San Leandro’s history of redlining, <br />exclusion, and other systemic racism. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS//CULTURE <br />>>Recommend that <br />City ambassadors <br />mentor a new <br />ambassador and <br />help coordinate <br />new cohorts to be <br />trained. <br />Ambassadors meet <br />periodically with the <br />City Manager’s Office <br />to stay accountable to <br />equity plan, discuss <br />concerns, and support <br />staff and organization- <br />al change as needed.>The City Ambassadors <br />will support the City <br />Manager’s Office with <br />implementation of the <br />organization-wide equity <br />plan as well as support <br />any department-specific <br />equity goals/plans/ <br />trainings.
