Mike Oliver 3 June 8, 1996
than today. The cost of a limited test should not exceed $10,000 if staff engineers design the test and
Public Works Services crews install the test on a weekend. Funds for the test would come from DFSI
(traffic impact fees). If the initial test is satisfactory, staff would return to the City Council with a
completed Project Study Report (PSR) to forward to Caltrans for approval. Once Caltrans approves the
PSR, the year -long test could proceed, and would be installed by Caltrans. Should the year -long test be
determined to be undesirable, staff would return to the City Council with a contract to remove the striped
median and return E. 14th Street to its former traffic design. Staff will take the necessary traffic counts
and other observations to properly evaluate traffic conditions before and after the striped median is
installed.
attachments
cc: Wandzia Grycz, Asst.
