CITY OF SAN LEANDRO
STAFF REPORT
DATE:
TO:
FROM:
SUBJECT
October 1, 1996
Wandzia Grycz, Interim City Manager
Nanci Klein, Economic Development Coordinator
APPROVED AND FORWARDED
TO CITY COUNCIL
Wandzia r
Interim ger
Appointment of New Members to the Economic Development Advisory Committee
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION
The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) is a 15 member body that advises the City
Council on issues related to economic development. Through attrition the Committee now has 12 members.
The City Council's Economic Development Advisory Board Sub -Committee, consisting of Mayor Corbett,
Councilmember Galvan, and Councilmember Loeffler, met to discuss the appointment of new EDAC
members. Staff recommends that the City Council make a motion to appoint Bill Jardin, former City
Councilmember; Bob Bursey Jr., Assistant Vice President of Sanwa Bank; and Jim Mosle, Vice President of
Saags to the Economic Development Advisory Committee.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) is intended to be a 15 member body that advises
the City Council on issues related to economic development. From time -to -time it is reasonable to expect
that members will have to decline participation due to business and family demands. At this point three
vacancies have been created in the homeowner, banking, and business -at -large categories. The EDAC has
reached a critical point in its deliberations on the draft Economic Development Strategy. Full membership
on the Committee will add to the depth and range of perspectives brought to consideration of the draft
document. The City Council's Economic Development Advisory Board Sub -Committee, consisting of
Mayor Corbett, Councilmember Galvan, and Councilmember Loeffler, met to review potential EDAC
members. The members proposed for EDAC membership have indicated they would accept the position if
appointed. The following names are proposed for appointment to the EDAC: Bill Jardin, Former
Councilmember and homeowners association; Bob Bursey Jr., Assistant Vice President of Sanwa Bank; and
Jim Mosle, Vice President of Saags.
CONCLUSION
Staff recommends that the City Council make a motion to appoint Bill Jardin, Bob Bursey Jr. and Jim Mosle
to the Economic Development Advisory Board.
EDNew
cf .0
4 ._A. i
