JOINT CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO AND <br />SAN LEANDRO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 96 - 74 (2536) <br />JOINT RESOLUTION SUPPORTING <br />CITY LIBRARY -SCHOOL COMPUTER HOOK-UP JOINT VENTURE <br />WHEREAS, implementation of a joint venture by the San Leandro Unified <br />School District and the City of San Leandro to link the School District's 11 <br />schools with the San Leandro Community Library via a School -City Library on-line <br />access modem has been proposed; and <br />WHEREAS, the new on-line access will allow students to search the Library's <br />catalog, reserve books for pick-up, and review their own borrowing record <br />directly from their school campuses; and <br />WHEREAS, the first step in the implementation of this new joint venture <br />will be to put the computer infrastructure in place. The City of San Leandro <br />will provide the computer hardware and software start-up costs at schools and the <br />Library, and will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading the computers and <br />software. The San Leandro Unified School District will pay for the cost of <br />installing the cabling for the computers at each school, and for the telephone <br />line hook-ups to the terminals at each school; and <br />WHEREAS, should this mutually beneficial project be approved, the School <br />District and the City resolve to work together to implement all details such as <br />prioritizing the schools for a link -up schedule. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the San Leandro Unified School <br />District and the City of San Leandro give their enthusiastic support to this <br />exciting City -School District joint venture and are looking forward to working <br />together for the betterment of our community. <br />Introduced by Council Member Young and Board Member Nardine and passed and <br />adopted this 13th day of May 1996, by the following called vote: <br />Members of the Council: <br />AYES: Council Members Galvan, Glaze, Loeffler, Lothrop, Polvorosa, <br />Young; Mayor Corbett ( 7 ) <br />NOES: None ( 0 ) <br />ABSENT: None ( 0 ) <br />
