IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 97 - 116 (1841) <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING APPLICATION <br />AND APPROPRIATION OF FEDERAL LOCAL <br />LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT <br />MONIES FOR FISCAL YEAR 1997-98 <br />(Provides for a total of $155,990 to fund the Drug Abuse <br />Resistance Education Program in San Leandro Schools) <br />WHEREAS, the City and the San Leandro Police Department embrace the continuing need for <br />on -site Police presence in our schools and recognize that presence as an investment in the future of our <br />community's children, <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Police Department desires to continue the Drug Abuse <br />Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program, which will be funded from monies available from the <br />Federal Local Law Enforcement Block Grant; <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Funds will not supplant general <br />fund expenditures; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Chief of Police of the City of San Leandro is <br />authorized, in its behalf, to request these funds from the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant, Fiscal <br />Year 1997-98. <br />IT IS AGREED that funding continuation of these programs is assumed by the Resolution, <br />consistent with the City's Charter, Ordinances and adopted budget, and that the City will establish a <br />trust fund for the grant monies. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: That said participation is hereby approved and authorized. <br />
