REPORT BY RICHARD il. LOJEJOY
September 17, 1952
on
ALVARADO STREET FIR01. FIRST A-i1 ',A E SOUTHERLY
As a result of the letter of August 19, 1952 from ;Vesley i"c-Cl.ure, City
1" ger to the San Leandro Industrial Corporation, a discussion took place
between the San Leandro Industrial Corporation representatives and the City
Manager regarding the standing of Alvarado Street at this time.
Subsequent to this meeting, the problem was discussed with the City
Council in their work session and the determination was that it would be
in order for the City to consider that portion of Alvarado Street already
dedicated to the City, including a 50 foot right-of-way from 2irst Avenue
to the northerly edge of Tract 1125, as being satisfactorily improved as far
as the City was concerned for that portion that presently has been paved.
In other swords, any maintenance to be done on this section-rould be
done by the City but any general vridening of the improved section together
with the necessary improvements would be at the expense of the property
owners adjoining and not at the City's expense.
The easterly half of Alvarado Street between the northerly and
southerly limits of Tract 1125 which was included in this subdivision has
been satisfactorily improved as far as the City is concerned and this
portion wi_ich was dedicated in the acceptance of said tr:'ct would hereafter,
under ordinary conditions, be the responsibility of the City to maintain.
That portion of Alvarado Street opposite the above -mentioned half -
section and the remaining portion of avarado Street southerly of Tract
1125 has not yet been dedicated to the Citir and consequently it remains in
private ownership. Under these circumstances and before the City accepted
this portion of Alvarado Street, the owners of the same would have to
make necessary improvements to comply with the City standards for an
industrial street at the time of acceptance of this portion of Alvarado
Street.
