IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO RESOLUTION NO. 2022- RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL DECLARING THIRTEEN VEHICLES AND TWO MOTORCYCLES AS SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SAID SURPLUS ASSETS AT PUBLIC AUCTION WHEREAS, the Police Department currently has thirteen fleet vehicles and two motorcycles which have been retired and taken out of service: and WHEREAS, the thirteen vehicles and two motorcycles have been crashed and or require maintenance at a cost which exceeds the vehicles’ value, and no longer have any value to the Police Department; and WHEREAS, these thirteen vehicles and two motorcycles have been stored at the City corporation yard and stripped of all equipment such as radios, computers, sirens, overhead lights, etc.; and WHEREAS, U.S. Auctions has offered to auction all thirteen vehicles and two motorcycles and transport them out of the corporation yard to get them ready for auction on a date not yet determined; and WHEREAS, Section 1-6-500 of the San Leandro Municipal Code states: “The Purchasing Agent shall sell or exchange, in a manner designed to serve the best interests of the City, equipment, materials and supplies which have become unsuitable or unnecessary for City purposes.”; and WHEREAS, the sale of these thirteen vehicles and two motorcycles will generate a one- time revenue yet to be determined. The funds generated by the sale of the thirteen vehicles and two motorcycles will be returned to the Equipment Repair and Maintenance Fund, account number 690-3911. NOW, THEREFORE, the City of San Leandro City Council does RESOLVE as follows: Following public notice as may be required by law and in accordance with section 1-6-500 of the San Leandro Municipal Code, the declaration of surplus and authorization of the sale of thirteen vehicles and two motorcycles at public auction by U.S. Auctions is approved and should be scheduled for a date yet to be determined.
