<br /> <br /> <br />PRESS RELEASE <br />For Immediate Release – June 23, 2022 <br /> <br />Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Announces FY2022 <br />Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Local Award of $693,444 <br /> <br />OAKLAND — The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is pleased to announce the Alameda <br />County Consortium, a ten-member grouping including Alameda County and the nine Alameda <br />County cities of Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, Fremont, Hayward, Livermore, Oakland, San <br />Leandro, and Union City, have been awarded $693,444 in FY2022 Byrne Justice Assistance <br />Grant (JAG) funding through the United States Department of Justice (USDOJ). <br /> <br />The JAG program continues to be a leading source of federal justice funding to state and local <br />jurisdictions, helping to fill gaps in state, local, and tribal criminal justice systems. <br /> <br />JAG funding supports a range of program areas, including law enforcement, prosecution, <br />indigent defense, courts, crime prevention and education, corrections and community <br />corrections, drug treatment and enforcement, planning, evaluation, technology improvement, <br />crime victim and witness initiatives, and mental health programs and related law enforcement <br />and corrections programs, including behavioral programs and crisis intervention teams. <br /> <br />Alameda County and various federally qualifying cities in Alameda County have been <br />successfully receiving annual JAG funding since the program’s inception in 2004. <br /> <br />Contact: Sheriff’s Grant Development Specialist Harry Bruno // HBruno@acgov.org or ACSO’s <br />Public Information Officer (PIO) Lieutenant Ray Kelly // RKelly@acgov.org.
