SAN LEANDRO GENERAL PLAN <br />ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE <br />EJ-3 <br />in San Leandro, three have been identified as Environmental Justice <br />Communities by the CalEPA CalEnviroScreen tool. <br />Environmental Justice Communities in San Leandro <br />San Leandro’s three designated Environmental Justice Communities <br />(within the highest 25 percent of census tracts across California) are <br />depicted in orange in Figure EJ-1, as Census Tracts 6001432400, <br />6001432501, and 6001433200.2 The Environmental Justice Communities in <br />San Leandro consist of the following neighborhoods in whole or in part: <br />Mulford Gardens, Davis West-Timothy Drive, Eastshore Davis Street , and <br />Floresta Gardens. <br />Environmental air pollution impacts are often regional due to proximity <br />to freeways, high volume roadways, railways, and airports. The <br />northwestern and central portions of San Leandro have higher combined <br />Pollution Burden and Population Characteristics scores than the <br />remainder of the city. Figure EJ-2 depicts the CalEnviroScreen scores for <br />all San Leandro census tracts. <br /> <br /> <br />2 Census tract numbers depicted in Figure EJ -1 have been truncated to the <br />last 5 digits.
