STEPHEN M. CHANDLER
LELAND W. BRUNER
GARY M. PICETTI
STEPHEN DOMBRINK
LAW OFFICES OF
CHANDLER & BRUNER
PROFESSIONAL CORPORATION
BEST BUILDING, 1330 EAST 14TH STREET
SAN LEANDRO, CALIFORNIA 94577
141 51 48 3 - 1444
November 22, 1977
City Council
City of San Leandro
335 East 14th Street
San Leandro, California 94577
A. W. BRUNER (1901.1962)
Re: Pedestrian way adjoining 923 Burkhart,
San Leandro
Gentlemen:
I am writing on behalf of our clients, Mr. and Mrs. John
Nelson, 923 Burkhart Avenue, San Leandro. This letter
concerns the pedestrian way adjoining their property,
as shown on the enclosed map. (Please let me know if
you need a more exact legal description.)
The County Tax Collector will be putting this pacrel up
for bid to abutting property owners in early 1978. Only
the Nelsons have shown an interest in buying it and we
presume that they will.
This parcel was dedicated to public in 1955*(see Tract
1546, Book 36, Page 3, Records of Alameda County). On
June 7, 1955, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors
rejected this parcel (Resolution 75941).
The parcel has become a nuisance to the Nelsons and their
neighbors. No one maintains the area. At night, it
attracts motorcyclists and teenagers who come to drink and
loiter. It is my understanding that the area is considered
a police problem and that no agency of the City is interested
in keeping this pedestrian way open. If the Nelsons buy it
from the Tax Collector, they will fence it off and close it.
