Gustafson, Commity Relations Representative <br />SUBJECT Status of Hesperus Strip _Annexation <br />1 I have looked into the matter of the status of our 'E7E1 of the strip of <br />2 pronerties alcng the east side of Hesperian Boulevard, between the Western Pacific <br />3 tmc ks and the Castro Vallev Freeway. <br />4 1. Uie annexat:im of the properties was ooupZeted in December,, 1970, with, the filing <br />5 of notice to the Secretary of State. The City Ordinance was nassed in October, <br />6 1970. <br />2. A cheek of the records and of the County Assessor's Tax dates Book shows the <br />8 area has NUr been withdrawn frcn the Ashland Fire District (860 nor from the <br />9 Hayward Area Recreation and Parks District (49-1/2 C ). <br />10 3. The San Leandro Fire Department (Chief C. Gebhardt) says the area is under the <br />11 j urisdiatian of the San Leandro Fire Departmnt. <br />12 4. The Police Dapartnent matp indicates only that the portion of the area annexed <br />13 known as Olive Cocoa is under Sat Lmandro Police jurisdiction and NOT the two <br />14 large business establishments —the Lod3er Mart and the 4-Star Building Supply. <br />15 Carter Stroud is now in the prooess of deter fining from the County Tax Assessor <br />16 just what taxes should be eliminated for the property owners along the subject strip. <br />n I am sending the Police Departmant a mean informing them that the entire subject <br />18 strip has been annexed and, therefore, is the City's responsibility fraan the standpoint <br />19 of police prDtectic n. <br />20 <br />.
