NOTICE: OF INTENTION <br />TO CIRCCLATE PETITION RE- <br />LATIN(i TO ANNEXATION OF <br />C'ERTA 1 N TERRITORY TO THE <br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO INDER <br />THE ANNEXATION ACT OF 1913. <br />The Undersigned proponents of a <br />petition relating to annexation of <br />certain inhabited territory to the. <br />City of San Leandro, under the <br />Annexation Act of 1913, hereby give <br />notice of intention to circulate said <br />petition in the County of Alameda. <br />The territory .sought to be annexed <br />is designated as "Leland Heights" <br />and is all that land situated in the <br />township of Eden, County of Ala- <br />meda, California, and described as <br />follows: <br />BEGINNING at the point of inter- <br />section of the southeastern line of <br />Estudillo Avenue as said avenue <br />existed August 19, 1952, with the <br />northeastern line of Lot 2, Block 2 <br />as said lot and block are shown <br />on that certain map entitled "Map: <br />No. 1, Bellevue Park Tract," filed <br />November 28, 1894, in Book 17 of <br />Maps at page 68, in the office of <br />the County Recorder of Alameda, <br />County, California, said point of be- <br />ginning also being on the City of: <br />San Leandro boundary line as estab- <br />lished by Ordinance No. 858 N.S,;. <br />running thence north 47' 14' 55" east. <br />along the said southeastern line of <br />said Estudillo Avenue (Basis of <br />bearing for this description being <br />taken as City of San Leandro Or- <br />dinance No. 560 N.S.) 73.44 feet;, <br />thence north 57° 44' 55" east 27.20 <br />feet thence along the southern line <br />-of Lalte Chabot Road (County Road <br />No. 7759) as it now exists, the 'fol- <br />lowing four courses and distances; <br />thence along the arc of a circle__`on- <br />cave to the right having a radius of <br />421.37 feet, an arc distance of 375.31 <br />feet; thence tangent to the last named <br />line south 70' 34' 10" east 313.31- <br />feet; thence along the are of a circle <br />concave to the right having a radius <br />of 450.00 feet, an arc distance of <br />269.11 feet, thence tangent to the last <br />named line south 36° 18' 20" east <br />.0.84 feet to the intersection of 'the <br />southeastern line of East Juana <br />Avenue as said avenue is shown on <br />said map; thence south 54` 46' 35" <br />west along the last named line 43.16 <br />feet: thence south IV 05' 40" west <br />144.79 feet; thence along the follow- <br />ing two courses and distances, said <br />lines being the revised boundary <br />lines between lands of Georges. <br />Leroy, Eugene Rene Leroy and <br />Andre Leroy and portion of Blocks <br />8, 9 and 10 as shown on said map, <br />south 54° 46, 35" west 531.56 feet; <br />thence south 50° 47' west 90.20 feet <br />to the intersection of the City of <br />San Leandro boundary line as es- <br />tablished by Ordinance No. 859 NI.S. <br />thence north 35° 26, west along the <br />last named line 106.28 feet to the <br />southeastern line of said East Juana <br />Avenue; thence south 54° 46' 35" west <br />along the last named line 10.19 feet <br />to the intersection of the City of <br />San Leandro boundary line as es- <br />tablished by Ordinance No. 560 N.S.; <br />thence along the last named line: <br />north 35' 13' 25" west 50.00 feet; <br />thence north 35' 26' west 350.00 feet <br />to the northwestern line of Sande -- <br />line Avenue as said avenue is shown <br />on said map; thence along the last <br />named loe south 54° 46' 35" west <br />160.00 feet to the intersection of the. <br />City of San Leandro boundary line <br />as established by Ordinance No. 858 <br />N.S.; thence along the last named <br />line north 351 26' west 150.00 feet; <br />thence north 52' 10, 36" east 110.09 <br />feet to the southwestern line of <br />Parker Street as said street is <br />shown on said map; thence along <br />the last named line south 35- 26' <br />east 80.01 feet; thence north 5V 46' <br />95" east 150.00 feet; thence north <br />35° 26' west271.79 feet to the point <br />of beginning. <br />For the reasons for the proposed <br />petition reference is hereby made to. <br />the "Statement o9 Reasons for Pro- <br />posed Petition" accompanying this <br />notice. <br />Dated this 30th day of July, 1953. <br />Signed by the following propon-� <br />ents of said petition; <br />Name Address <br />LULU YORK 1391 Parker St, <br />by JACK M. FRED SIMON 1492 Graff Ave, <br />STATEMENT OF REASONS FOR <br />PROPOSED PETITION <br />Annexation of the Leland Heights <br />area to the City of San Leandro is <br />desirable to the residents of Leland <br />Heights for the following reasons: <br />1. Provides the means whereby <br />the residents of Leland Heights may <br />obtain Sanitary Sewers at a reason- <br />able cost without a large cash out- <br />lay. <br />2. Provides the means whereby <br />sidewalks, curbs and gutters may be <br />obtained at a reasonable cost with- <br />out a large cash outlay. <br />3. Provides a means for maintain- <br />ing property values. <br />4. Provides the opportunity for <br />inutual aid with the combined re- <br />sources of both communities for the <br />future development of the bay front <br />recreational area. <br />5. In view of the tax bills that are <br />before the state legislature, annexa- <br />tion will provide a means of holding <br />pro 6p Provides erty for minimum. down to a for increa sepolice • <br />protection. <br />7. Provides for increased fire pro- <br />tection with a reduction in fire in- <br />surance rates. <br />8. Provides the opportunity for re- <br />duced utility rates. <br />9. Provides the residents of Leland <br />Heights with the opportunity for a <br />voice in the affairs of the larger <br />community of which they are a <br />part and parcel. <br />10.
