High Maintenance Trees require annual trimming and can become structurally weak and
susceptible to failures if proper pruning is not completed.
On April 26, 2022, the Finance Department issued Bid No. 21-22.015 for High Maintenance Tree
trimming. Tree species, quantity, location, and work requested are identified in the
Non-Professional Services Agreement Exhibit A, Scope of Services. Seven firms submitted bids
on or before the submittal deadline. Bay Area Tree Specialists submitted the lowest bid for a
price of $449.00 per tree, with a total contract amount of $54,329 to trim 121 trees (Phase I). The
bid price includes all labor, materials, disposal, transportation, and equipment/staffing necessary
to perform the work. With additional funds identified in the FY2022-2023 budget, staff would like
to increase the scope of work to include more tree maintenance work (160 trees, Phase II). Bay
Area Tree Specialists agrees to the terms of Amendment No. 1 to the Non-Professional Services
Agreement and will sign the amendment upon Council approval.
Previous Actions
Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 11/2/2022
