I generally support the idea of more and safer bike lanes in San
Leandro, but think this proposal is less than ideal. Doing the August 13th live demonstration on a Saturday on
Williams street is not a realistic test of the plan. I urge the council to require a live demonstration to be done on a
weekday morning, say from 7-10 am on Bancroft Avenue, for a mile or so. The test should be done on a school
day, and should go by both the high school and Bancroft middle school. This is a more accurate way to measure
the impact of the plan. Not doing this would be a disservice to the community.
Guest User
Location:
Submitted At: 4:47pm 11-18-22
Please improve bike lanes along Bancroft and Williams. I bike on Bancroft regularly to access groceries,
especially Grocery Outlet. As one of the few north/south bike routes, I also ride Bancroft to access Oakland for
business. In the past, my children and I rode Bancroft multiple times/week to access the swimming pool at San
Leandro High School for summer swim league training. My daughters and I have also ridden Bancroft for
recreational rides all the way over the Richmond Bridge. Bancroft is a critical north/south bike route. Williams is a
critical east/west bike route, linking large populations to the San Leandro shoreline with its gorgeous, low stress
multi-use path and Marina. Please improve these bicycle routes. Thanks.
Guest User
Location:
Submitted At: 7:57pm 11-17-22
I support the approval of these cycle track plans. I do not live in San Leandro but it would make commuting by
bike to my job much safer and easier as I would bike through this area if there were safe and convenient bike
lanes.
Guest User
Location:
Submitted At: 2:56pm 11-17-22
The amount and quality of work put into the preparation and outreach for this study by staff, consultants, and the
community was incredible. The process around this project has been inclusive and extremely thoughtful, I want to
extend my thanks and congratulations to everyone involved. Please adopt the staff recommendation to approve
the Crosstown Corridors study and move the projects forward on Bancroft Avenue and Williams Street, helping
San Leandro to achieve its goals of mobility, sustainability, and street safety for all ages and abilities. Thank you! -
Robert Prinz, Advocacy Director, Bike East Bay
