IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO RESOLUTION NO. 2022- RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL TO RE- APPROPRIATE GRANT FUNDING FROM THRASHER SKATE PARK, AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR MEMORIAL PARK IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT 2020.3040 WHEREAS, in 2021, the California State Legislature allocated $2,750,000 in funding as part of the statewide budget for the redevelopment of Memorial Park; and WHEREAS, in order to complete the Memorial Park Improvement project, additional funding is needed; and WHEREAS, in 2022, the State of California, Department of Parks and Recreation awarded $232,958 in per capita grant funds for Thrasher Skate Park Improvements; and WHEREAS, following robust public feedback and per the recommendation of the City Council Facilities and Transportation Committee, the City has determined that the Thrasher Park skate park in its current design configuration doesn’t meet the needs of current skateboard users; and WHEREAS, at the conclusion of its September 13, 2022 meeting, the City Council Facilities and Transportation Committee recommended that the $232,958 in funding previously allocated towards the Thrasher Park skate park should be reallocated to help bridge funding shortfall needed to complete the renovation of Memorial Park; and WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation has indicated that grant funds for Thrasher Skate Park may be re-allocated to the Memorial Park Improvement project; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends approval of said reallocation of funds. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: That $232,958 in previously appropriated funds in account 150-62-143 shall be used for Memorial Park Improvements; and That $58,239 in previously appropriated funds in account 210-62-142 shall be used for Memorial Park Improvements; and That $1,900,335 in previously appropriated funds is hereby authorized to be re-allocated from Account 010-14-015-4102 to Account 210-62-142 for Memorial Park Improvements; and That $58,468 is appropriated from CIP fund balance to account 210-62-142 Memorial Park Improvements.
