<br /> <br />February xx, 2023 <br /> <br />Sandra Colwell <br />2676 3rd Unit 1706 <br />Livermore, CA 94550 <br /> <br />Dear Sandra Colwell: <br /> <br />On behalf of the City of San Leandro, I am pleased to offer you part-time employment as a Retired <br />Annuitant with the City of San Leandro to provide extra help work in the Police Department. Your <br />employment shall be of a limited duration, commencing on February 16, 2023 and ending no <br />later than December 31, 2023. <br /> <br />As a retired annuitant under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (“CalPERS”), <br />you may work in an extra help position with restrictions as authorized by Government Code <br />sections 7522.56 and 21224. Your appointment is considered “at will” and not covered by the <br />terms of any collective bargaining agreement with any represented or unrepresented group of <br />City employees. <br /> <br />During your appointment, you will perform specialized functions to manage and maintain all <br />training records for the Police Department, ensure the department is in compliance with the <br />State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training Standards, and other <br />legislative mandated training for Police Department staff. All services performed shall be in <br />accordance with all applicable ordinances, policies, and rules and regulations of the City. <br /> <br />You will be paid an hourly rate of $36.53 payable on the 5th and 20th of each month. The City has <br />confirmed that this hourly rate is not less than the minimum nor exceed the maximum monthly <br />base salary paid to other employees performing comparable duties as listed on the City’s publicly <br />available pay schedule. No other benefits, incentives, compensation in lieu of benefits, or any <br />other form of compensation will be paid in addition to the hourly pay rate. CalPERS service credit <br />will not be accrued and no additional retirement rights or benefits will be granted. <br /> <br />You are limited to working a maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year (July 1 through June 30) with <br />all CalPERS employers combined, without exception. Per Government Code section 21220, the <br />City will enroll and report your hours to CalPERS.
