WRT | RFP No. 60149: San Leandro Comprehensive Parks Master Plan 31
parks give people a place to spend time
with neighbors, family, and friends, and
to interact with their broader community
in a shared space. In short, parks support
healthy people, create community cohesion,
and contribute to social equity at a city and
regional scale.
WRT’s parks and open space practice starts
with this perspective, and works to set in
motion changes that will advance equitable
access to parks in each community we work
in.
Our Creative Fitting Process
We adhere to the adaptive process
of Creative Fitting to find the balance
between the changing needs of users and
the environment’s capacity to sustainably
incorporate these needs. Our parks and
open spaces are designed with an attention
to specific attributes and local context,
including details that are relevant and
relate-able, not imported or imposed from
other places and assignments.
City of Fresno, California
October 12, 2017 (Released for Public Comment)
FRESNO PARKS MASTER PLAN
DRAFT
FRESNO PARKS
MASTER PLAN: SCHOOL SITE DESIGN
CONSIDERATIONS | WRT
FRESNO, CA
The design of site perimeters and boundaries
is especially important to consider at joint-
use school sites where there are distinct times
of public recreation use and school use. By
placing community-serving park amenities at
community-facing edges, these sites can be
inviting and permeable for public recreation. At
the same time, strategic placement of fences
and gates will help create clear and secure
boundaries as needed.
