IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO RESOLUTION NO. 2023- RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN ANIMAL SHELTER SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE EAST BAY SPCA WITH A NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT OF $720,000.00 FOR TWO FISCAL YEARS WHEREAS, on December 7, 2020, the City Council authorized the City Manager to enter into a new agreement between the City of San Leandro and the East Bay SPCA, for animal shelter services; and WHEREAS, the agreement with the East Bay SPCA was subsequently reauthorized on January 18, 2022; and WHEREAS, the Police Department currently utilizes the East Bay SPCA to provide quality animal sheltering services as part of its core service delivery to the community; and WHEREAS, the City desires to continue its relationship with the East Bay SPCA through June 30, 2025 in an amount not to exceed $720,000.00; and WHEREAS, a corresponding appropriation for this proposed agreement is already incorporated into the proposed Fiscal Year 2023-2024 and Fiscal Year 2024-2025 budgets but will require a salary budget re- appropriation request to supplement what was budgeted. $285,000 will be re-appropriated from salary savings from FY2023 and earmarked to this Agreement for its Term; and WHEREAS, the East Bay SPCA has agreed to the terms of the contract pending Council approval; and WHEREAS the City Council is familiar with the contents of the agreement; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends approval of said agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, the City of San Leandro City Council does RESOLVE as follows: That said amendments to the agreement are hereby approved and execution by the City Manager is hereby authorized.
