51 <br /> <br />HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION OF BOARD AND DUTIES <br />The Commission shall advise the Council on all matters relating to social conditions <br />within the City, assess and report to the Council the social needs of the people, <br />recommend to the Council methods for meeting such needs, and assist the Council in <br />marshalling the human resources necessary to accomplish the foregoing. In discharge <br />of this responsibility, the Commission shall: <br /> <br />a) Evaluate social services being provided within the City, and provide <br />advice and assistance toward coordination thereof; <br /> <br />b) Provide motivation for the development of new social services as the <br />need therefor is determined; <br /> <br />c) Coordinate the efforts of social service agencies to raise funds from the <br />community; <br /> <br />d) Assist in the procurement of grants from public and private funding <br />sources; <br /> <br />e) Study proposed programs and proposed budgets of social service <br />agencies requesting City assistance and recommend Council approval <br />or disapproval of such programs, budgets and requests. The Commission <br />shall conduct periodic reviews of such programs and budgets and shall <br />report to the Council on the implementation of such programs and <br />expenditures of City funds and physical resources therefor. <br /> <br />MEMBERSHIP <br />The commission shall consist of nine (9) members. The Commission is comprised of 1 <br />member representing each district and 3 at-large members. <br />Four (4) Year Term <br /> <br />MEETING SCHEDULE <br />Meets fourth Wednesday of every month; 7:00 p.m., City Hall, Sister Cities Gallery <br />
