15

Programs last year included a celebration of Lunar New Year, Day of the Dead, Teen Take Over,
a concert at the Marina, Chinese and Spanish bilingual classes, the Pumpkin Splash, and – my
personal favorite - a Pooch Pool Party.
Another highlight was the opening of the Adult Day Care facility operated by the Center for Elders
Independence, which provides medical and social services and day programming to individuals
and seniors. Additionally, 160 programs for adults were enjoyed by almost 11,000
individuals. Collections are now available in Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, and
Tagalog. The library is home to a very active Veterans’ Resource Center and also a Citizenship
