IN THE CITY COUNCIL ❑F THE CITY OF SAN LEANDR❑ <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2023-127 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN LEAN DRO CITY COUNCIL TO APPROVE, ACCEPT AND AUTHORIZE <br />THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE'S EDWARD <br />BYRNE JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) AWARD ❑F $38,241.00 AND TO APPROPRIATE THE CITY'S SHARE <br />❑F $34,316.90 OF THESE FUNDS TO FUND THE PURCHASE AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE LEFTA SYSTEMS <br />SHIELD SOFTWARE SUITE <br />WHEREAS, the Edward Byrne JAG Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of <br />Justice Programs and was created in 2005 by merging the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program (Byrne) with the <br />Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program (LLEBG); and <br />WHEREAS, Edward Byrne JAG funding can be used to support a broad range of state and local government <br />police projects, including those designed to prevent and control crime and to improve the criminal justice system; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, ❑n August 21, 2023, the Police Department submitted a request for grant funding through <br />Alameda County for Edward Byrne JAG funding to enhance the department's accountability system with a proposal <br />to fully implement a software application for police accountability and training documentation; and <br />WHEREAS, the SLPD was awarded Department of Justice (DOJ) JAG funding of $38,241.00 for the project <br />proposed less $3,824.10 far administrative fees paid to Alameda County Sheriff's Office for grant management. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br />That the City Council accepts the grant funds and authorizes the City Manager to execute all documents <br />related to the grant award of $38,241.00; and <br />That an appropriation of $34,316.90 from the 2023 DOJ JAG award t❑ account No.150-21-061 is <br />approved; and <br />That the balance of $3,824.10 shall be reserved by Alameda County Sheriff's Off ice for grant administration <br />fees and not part of the City's share of the grant award. <br />Introduced by Councilmember Aguilar and passed and adopted this 18" day of September 2023, by the <br />following vote: <br />AYES: CounciImembers Aguilar, Azevedo, BaIIew, Bowen, Reyn es, Simon, and Mayor Gonzalez (7) <br />NOES: None (0) <br />ASSENT: None t0j <br />ATTEST: 61tv & <br />e ly B.
