(b)The Contractor shall report to the City representative about any plant material still alive, <br />but not exhibiting normal growth and vigor that is recommended for removal. Contractor <br />shall indicate the location, size and species [a photo will suffice]. <br />(c)If it has been determined that the material is beyond reviving, the City shall provide <br />approval and the removal will be done at no additional charge. <br />305 Fertilization - Extra Work – On Call – As Needed- PreApproval by City <br />(a)Landscaped area fertilization shall be performed on an on call/requested basis. Pricing to <br />fertilize all landscape areas within the scope of this contract shall be requested during the <br />RFP process. <br />(b)Fertilization shall be with a slow release, non-water-soluble, high nitrogen fertilizer. <br />Chemical composition shall be approved by the City prior to application. All excess <br />chemicals shall be cleaned from benches, tables, BBQs, and pathways. <br />(c)For the City Hall Landscape Area Only: Shrubs shall be fertilized a minimum of twice <br />per year, once in October and once in April, with a complete fertilizer and is not <br />considered extra work but a part of the monthly maintenance service fee. Shrub <br />fertilizer shall be of a formulation to keep shrubs in a vigorous and healthy condition. At <br />no time will the use of growth inhibitors, plant growth regulators (PGR’s) or growth <br />retardants be used. This applies to the flower beds comprised of azaleas and <br />rhododendrons. <br />(d)Fertilizers shall conform to the California Food and Agricultural Code. Commercial <br />fertilizers shall be complete fertilizers furnishing the required percentages of nitrogen, <br />phosphoric acid, potash, and other necessary micronutrients as needed to keep turf, trees, <br />and shrubs in a healthy and vigorous growing condition <br />306 Plant Replacement - Extra Work – On Call – As Needed- PreApproval by City <br />(a)The City may, during the term of this contract, requests a planting renovation plan for <br />some or all of the landscape areas in this contract. As part of that service, the Contractor <br />shall evaluate areas and determine where plant replacement is needed , recommended <br />species, other required repairs and renovations [such as irrigation] that will sustain new <br />plant material. <br />(b)Plant replacement, unless due to the negligence of the contractor, shall be considered <br />Extra Work and shall be pre-approved by the City, at the prices set forth in the Price <br />Sheet in the Bid packet. <br />(c)Once approved, the City and Contractor shall agree upon a replacement schedule based <br />on the list provided.
