(d) After equipment is used in a weed abatement area that equipment must be cleaned, and <br />mower decks must be washed prior to mowing turf. <br /> <br /> <br />604 Herbicide Application – Turf Maintenance <br /> <br />a) Utilize IPM/BMPs to encourage a strong turf management program and minimize the use <br />of herbicides. General use classified pesticides will be used for turf and ornamental <br />applications. Applications will be made to maximize the use of the herbicide while <br />minimizing the exposure to the public <br />b) In accordance with the District’s sustainability goals, apply integrated pest management <br />best practices <br />c) Post areas before spraying to warn park users (This is only applicable to City facilities <br />where there is turf used by pedestrians) <br />d) Store herbicides in OSHA approved containers o Wear appropriate protective clothing <br />while applying <br />e) Use non-selective herbicides to kill grass and weeds that are growing in cracks, around <br />posts, along fence lines, along curb and gutters, or in other identified areas where no <br />vegetation is desired <br />f) Use pre-emergent herbicides to control the germination and spread of broadleaf weeds in <br />plant beds and turf areas <br />g) Use post-emergent herbicides to control emergent broadleaf weeds that are currently in <br />plant beds or turf areas <br /> <br />605 V Ditches – Extra Work – Upon Request – Pre Approved by City <br /> <br />(a) City-owned v-ditches in the Bay-O-Vista neighborhood of San Leandro shall be <br />maintained once per year in the fall to remove debris, dirt and overgrown planting/weeds <br />so that storm water will have an unimpeded flow. There are 15 v-ditches and 24 storm <br />water inlets that require maintenance. Pricing will be requested in the Extra Pricing as a <br />per linear foot price or per square foot pricing. . <br />(b) The City may at any time during the contract have the contractor remove dirt or weeds <br />from the V-Ditches at the hourly rate for extra work. Dirt is spread out evenly on the low <br />side of the ditch and not removed from the site. <br />(c) Weeds must be either removed from the site or mulched up through mechanical method <br />typically a string trimmer. Leaving weeds laying on the ground untouched is not <br />acceptable.
