IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2023-167 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL TO APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH BUILDING FUTURES FOR OPERATIONS OF SAN LEANDRO <br />SHELTER AND SISTER ME HOME FOR AN AMOUNT NOT -TO -EXCEED $585,391 <br />WHEREAS, the Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention (HHAP) grant program provides flexible <br />block grant funds to Continuums of Care, large cities and counties to support regional coordination and expand <br />or develop local capacity to end and prevent homelessness in local communities throughout the state of <br />California; and <br />WHEREAS, since 2019, there have been four rounds of HHAP funding totaling nearly $3 billion across the <br />state of California; and <br />WHEREAS, Alameda County Office of Homeless Care and Coordination (OHCC) is responsible for the <br />County's administration of HHAP Funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro has been allocated $500,091 in HHAP Rounds 1 and 2; $331,178 in <br />HHAP Round 3; and $192,822 in HHAP Round 4, and in total, the City of San Leandro has been allocated <br />$1,024,091 in HHAP funds; and <br />WHEREAS, Building Futures provides San Leandro individuals and families in need with shelter, Domestic <br />Violence support and advocacy, and housing services; and <br />WHEREAS, Building Futures operates the San Leandro Shelter, a 30-bed shelter for women with and <br />without children that provides a warm and safe environment and support services designed to help residents <br />address the obstacles they face to ending their homelessness; and <br />WHEREAS, Building Futures additionally operates Sister Me Home, a 20-bed shelter with 24-hour staffing <br />and culturally appropriate support services which is open to all fleeing domestic violence, regardless of gender <br />identification; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is familiar with the contents thereof; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends approval of said agreement. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City of San Leandro City Council does RESOLVE as follows: <br />That said agreement for the total not to exceed amount of compensation of $585,391 is hereby <br />approved and execution by the City Manager is hereby authorized. <br />
