IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2023-XXX <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL TO ACCEPT THE PACKARD FOUNDATION <br /> STAY & PLAY GRANT AND TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS <br />RELATED TO THE GRANT AND EXPEND THE FUNDS AWARDED IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,500.00 <br /> TO FUND A SERIES OF STAY AND PLAY PROGRAMS PROVIDED BY LIBRARY STAFF FOR FAMILIES, <br />FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS, AND CAREGIVERS OF YOUTH AGES 0-5 <br />WHEREAS, Stay & Play is a library service model that positions libraries to support and engage informal <br />caregivers and the children in their care and includes programming designed specifically for informal <br />caregivers, helping them learn, develop relationships, and build connections to their library and community <br />resources; and <br />WHEREAS, the Stay & Play grant is funded by the Packard Foundation, which works with people and <br />communities to create enduring solutions for just societies and a healthy, resilient natural world; and <br />WHEREAS, this grant is administered through Califa, a nonprofit library membership consortium of <br />more than 200 libraries in California; and <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library has been selected to join the Stay & Play training in <br />foundations of early learning, kindergarten readiness, and family engagement for select library staff to then <br />execute what they learn for the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library will receive $4,500.00 for program expenses including <br />purchasing materials and food to host two 6-8 week Stay & Play program series and measure program <br />outcomes in Spring 2024. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br />1.That City Council accepts, and the City Manager is authorized to execute all documents related to <br />and expend the Stay & Play grant totaling $4,500.00; and <br />2.That an appropriation of the Stay & Play funding of $4,500.00 in revenue account #150-3643 and <br />expenditure account #150-68-033 is approved; and <br />3.That an original executed agreement shall be attached to and made a part of this resolution.DRAFT
