Caveat <br />The CPRB review at this time is focused on the SLPD policy that governs <br />ALPR use –no matter how many cameras are in use –and not on the <br />evaluation of the actual effectiveness of the cameras for criminal <br />investigations or general crime deterrence. <br />The CPRB is not prepared to take a position at this time on whether to <br />approve an increase in the number of ALPR cameras. We are aware <br />that the City Council has requested for their deliberations additional <br />data and analysis on the efficacy and costs of the cameras in addition <br />to our policy review to make that determination.
