PROPOSED SERVICES December 11, 2023 The San Leandro Black Chamber of Commerce is proposing to deliver the following capacity building, program, and service elements over a one-year period for $10,000. 1. Board Development\Training The success of the Chamber falls on the shoulders of the directors and on how well we are able to understand our job criteria. In order to make sure every director is on board with the organization’s goal, we must conduct various training programs. The training programs will help the Chamber reach our goals and provide the directors with the knowledge to execute strategies that will help them get there. Some of the subjects 3rd- party training programs address to professionalize the board’s capabilities include: ● Develop criteria to select the right board member ● Differences between management, leadership, and ownership ● Creating a balance between the role of an executive and a director ● Helping directors establish a mission and vision statement ● Teaching profitable governance practices and processes ● Improving presentation, communication, and negotiation skills ● Teaching the importance of building long-lasting relationship with stakeholders ● Discussing corporate social responsibility ● How to make better decisions for the Chamber ● How to measure and director’s success ● How to identify and develop junior board members The Chamber will work with organizations like SCORE, Center for Excellence in Nonprofits, Working Solutions and the SBA for programs already in place to develop and train directors. We will also look at investing in board management software to increase effectiveness in making decisions and approaching issues tactfully. 2. Communications It is important that we communicate regularly to our members, partners and friends of the Chamber. We do not have the resources to develop and manage communications so we are enlisting an outside firm to ensure information is being disseminated regularly and on-time. This will provide communications for 12 months. 3. Program Development To better support the growth of San Leandro business clients, the Chamber will develop a range of programs.
