IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO ACCEPT AND EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE MOU FUNDS <br />AWARDED BY FIRST 5 ALAMEDA COUNTY TO FUND EARLY LEARNING COMMUNITY EVENTS <br />AND MULTILINGUAL PROGRAMMING AND MATERIALS IN CELEBRATION OF DIA DE LOS NIÑOS <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,200 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, First 5 Alameda County was established as the county extension of the <br />California Children and Families Commission made possible by passage of the California <br />Children and Families First Act (Proposition 10) in 1998 and established to promote, <br />support, and improve the early development of children from the prenatal stage to five <br />years of age; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a partnership between First 5 Alameda County and the San Leandro Public <br />Library was established in 2013 through a neighborhood partnership grant; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library has continued to partner with First 5 Alameda <br />County on kindergarten readiness annually through grant agreements or memorandums of <br />understanding; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, First 5 Alameda County funding supports early childhood development <br />efforts for ages birth through 5 years of age to include library staff training, programming, and <br />materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library receives funding to provide early childhood <br />services to the community and reporting results to First 5; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library is provided $10,200 to organize by May 1, <br />2024 Día programming that supports early literacy and resources in ways that honor and <br />embrace a young child’s home language and culture; purchase and distribute multilingual <br />and/or non-English monolingual children’s books and/or programming activity materials to (1) <br />expand the library’s permanent collection and/or (2) distribute books to the community; and <br />purchase and install materials to enhance the outdoor spaces for young children at the Main <br />Library by June 30, 2024. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br /> <br />1. That City Council accepts, and the City Manager is authorized to execute all <br />documents related to the First 5 MOU totaling $10,200; and <br /> <br />2. That an appropriation of the First 5 MOU funding of $10,200 in revenue account <br />#150-3617 and expenditure account #150-68-034 is approved. <br /> <br />3. That an original executed agreement shall be attached to and made a part of this <br />resolution. <br />
