IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO RESOLUTION NO. 2024- RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AND EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE MOU FUNDS AWARDED BY FIRST 5 ALAMEDA COUNTY TO FUND EARLY LEARNING COMMUNITY EVENTS AND MULTILINGUAL PROGRAMMING AND MATERIALS IN CELEBRATION OF DIA DE LOS NIÑOS IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,200 WHEREAS, First 5 Alameda County was established as the county extension of the California Children and Families Commission made possible by passage of the California Children and Families First Act (Proposition 10) in 1998 and established to promote, support, and improve the early development of children from the prenatal stage to five years of age; and WHEREAS, a partnership between First 5 Alameda County and the San Leandro Public Library was established in 2013 through a neighborhood partnership grant; and WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library has continued to partner with First 5 Alameda County on kindergarten readiness annually through grant agreements or memorandums of understanding; and WHEREAS, First 5 Alameda County funding supports early childhood development efforts for ages birth through 5 years of age to include library staff training, programming, and materials; and WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library receives funding to provide early childhood services to the community and reporting results to First 5; and WHEREAS, the San Leandro Public Library is provided $10,200 to organize by May 1, 2024 Día programming that supports early literacy and resources in ways that honor and embrace a young child’s home language and culture; purchase and distribute multilingual and/or non-English monolingual children’s books and/or programming activity materials to (1) expand the library’s permanent collection and/or (2) distribute books to the community; and purchase and install materials to enhance the outdoor spaces for young children at the Main Library by June 30, 2024. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: 1. That City Council accepts, and the City Manager is authorized to execute all documents related to the First 5 MOU totaling $10,200; and 2. That an appropriation of the First 5 MOU funding of $10,200 in revenue account #150-3617 and expenditure account #150-68-034 is approved. 3. That an original executed agreement shall be attached to and made a part of this resolution.
