City Councilmembers announced their calendar of upcoming events and coordinated attendance, reported on local events attended since the last meeting, and made brief comments on issues of concern. PRESENTATIONS12. City Council took at 10 minute break from 8:05 to 8:15 pm. ACTION ITEMS13. 13.a.23-637 Council Discussion and Direction Regarding Process for Appointment to Fill District 1 City Council Vacancy per §250 of the City of San Leandro Charter City Council took a 5 minute break at 8:19 pm. Councilmember Ballew made a motion, with a second by Mayor Gonzalez to clear the chambers and move the Council meeting upstairs to the large conference room. The motion passed unanimous 5-0-1 with Councilmember Azevedo absent. At 9:55 pm Councilmember Aguilar made a motion with a second by Councilmember Ballew to extend the meeting to 10:30 pm. The motion carried unanimously. A motion was made by Councilmember Aguilar, Jr., seconded by Mayor González III, that the Council move forward with the staff recommendations, as modified to adjust the time frame for applications to end on January 29, 2024 at 5 pm, and that Council will submit questions for a supplemental questionnaire to be submitted with the applications. The motion CARRIED by the following vote: Aye:Aguilar Jr., Azevedo, Ballew, Simon, González III, Bowen6 - 13.b.23-636 Motion to Designate a Vice Mayor to Serve for a Period of One Year Pursuant to City Charter Section 310 Councilmember Ballew made a substitute motion to nominate Councilmember Bowen as Vice Mayor, the motion failed for a lack of a second.
