IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-036 <br />RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE <br />AGREEMENT FOR THE TRANSFER OF 9-1-1 CALLS BETWEEN ALAMEDA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND THE <br /> SAN LEANDRO POLICE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, 9-1-1 is the na�onally recognized telephone number for the public to report police, fire, or medical <br />emergencies; and <br />WHEREAS, 9-1-1 calls made within the geographical boundaries of the City of San Leandro are received by the <br />San Leandro Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Police Department’s Communica�ons Center serves as the City’s primary public <br />safety answering point; and <br />WHEREAS, due to staffing constraints, the San Leandro Police Department desires to contract the transfer of all <br />9-1-1 and non-emergency calls to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office between the hours of 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M., <br />seven (7) days per week; and <br />WHEREAS, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office agrees to accept all 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls from San <br />Leandro Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, the agreement to transfer calls began on March 10, 2024 and will expire on September 9, 2024. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City of San Leandro City Council does RESOLVE as follows: <br />That said agreement for the transfer of 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls between the Alameda County Sheriff’s <br />Office and the San Leandro Police Department is hereby approved and execu�on by the City Manager, including any <br />retroac�ve ac�ons or ac�vi�es necessary to affect the intent of this Resolu�on, is authorized. <br />Introduced by Councilmember Aguilar and passed and adopted this 15th day of April 2024 by the following vote: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Aguilar, Azevedo, Ballew, Bowen, Simon, Viveros-Walton, and Mayor González (7) <br />NOES: None (0) <br />ABSENT: None (0) <br /> <br />ATTEST: _________________________________ <br /> Kelly B.
