<br />Non-Professional Services Agreement between June 13, 2024 <br />City of San Leandro and Student Conservation Association – Exhibit A Page 1 of 3 <br />EXHIBIT A <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br /> <br />OVERVIEW <br />Student Conservation Association (SCA) will be providing 1) crew support for the tree planting project <br />around tree planting, watering, and care over the school year, and 2) a workforce development program for <br />young people interested in urban forestry and conservation. Where timing is appropriate, SCA crews will <br />also support outreach efforts as well. <br />Activities included are: <br />• Watering newly installed trees planted on City streets, in City parks and other City properties. <br />• Installing watering bags to newly installed trees in locations determined by the Street Supervisor. <br />• Installing or adjusting stakes and straps on newly installed trees. <br />• Installing mulch around tree wells and in new planting areas, as directed by the Street Supervisor <br />• Removing suckers at the base of trees or raising trees up to 6’, as needed. <br />• Planting (replacing) up to 50 Cal-Fire planted trees in locations designated by the Street Supervisor <br />or Park Supervisor. The City will provide approved species type for the trees. <br />• Report back issues regarding the health of trees to the Street and Park Supervisor <br />A list and map of work locations will be provided by the City to the Crew Leader. <br />ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />City of San Leandro <br />The City’s Contract Administrator will distribute funds to SCA upon receipt of invoices and description of <br />work completed. They will coordinate volunteer recruitment and management, and support SCA for <br />workday activities. They will be included on all communications externally and internally. <br />Urban Forestry Division staff will coordinate with SCA staff to determine planting site locations and <br />feasibility, including tree spacing and proximity to overhead lines (this pertains to City properties and ROW <br />only; SCA staff must contact property owners if plantings are proposed on private property). Specific <br />planting plans will need approval from Urban Forestry Division prior to SCA planting. The approval must <br />include SCA staff requesting or executing upon an underground service alert (USA) for an underground <br />utility check prior to digging. Water Pollution Control Plant staff will provide access to recycled water, and <br />Urban Forestry Division staff will provide access to well water for SCA staff as needed for tree watering. <br />Student Conservation Association (SCA) <br />Founded in 1957, the Student Conservation Association’s (SCA) mission is to build the next generation of <br />conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of the environment and communities by engaging <br />young people in hands-on service to the land.
