Her dedication to transforming lives, communities, and
natural spaces is the thread in her two-decade career in outdoor education, youth workforce development,
and agriculture and food justice. Kate’s work spans youth-led initiatives that achieved school food policy
wins and the establishment of a vibrant urban farm at the Alameda Point Collaborative; career pathway and
green job industry partnership development with the Alameda County Office of Education and Merritt
Community College; and employment of hundreds of youth in environmental justice initiatives. She holds a
BA in Anthropology, a MSc in International Agricultural Development, and a Teaching Certificate in
Agriculture and Natural Resources. Kate resides in Alameda, CA and can most likely be found on the ski
hill, a road trip, her kitchen, or out at live music - with her husband James and kids Zephyr and Indigo likely
at her side.

Arnold Palmo is an intersectional environmental leader with a decade of experience in developing and
implementing community-focused environmental programs in the San Francisco Bay Area and Greater
Seattle Area.
