Ord 2024-009 Speed Limits (Traffic Code)

ORDINANCE NO. 2024-009 3 And the following streets shall be 40 miles per hour: • Doolittle Drive between Davis Street and Fairway Drive • Foothill Boulevard between Durant Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard • Halcyon Drive between Washington Avenue and Hesperian Boulevard • Hesperian Boulevard between Lewelling Boulevard (South City Limit) and East 14th Street • Lewelling Boulevard between Wicks Boulevard and Sedgeman Street • Wicks Boulevard between Farallon Drive and Merced Street Section 2. This determination is based on an engineering and traffic survey, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A. The City Council hereby finds that the above said speed limits will facilitate the orderly movement of vehicular traffic and will be reasonable and safe. The speed limits shall be effective when appropriate signs giving notice thereof are erected upon the street. Section 3. These provisions of Section 1 shall be added to Chapter 13, Section 1300 of the San Leandro Traffic Code. Section 4. SEVERABILITY. If any section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance, or its application to any person or circumstance, is for any reason held to be invalid or unenforceable, such invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining sections, subsections, subdivisions, paragraphs, sentences, clauses or phrases of this Ordinance, or its application to any other person or circumstance. The City Council of the City of San Leandro hereby declares that it would have adopted each section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase hereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more other sections, subsections, subdivisions, paragraphs, sentences, clauses or phrases hereof is declared invalid or unenforceable. Section 5. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after adoption. The City Clerk is directed to publish the title once and post a complete copy thereof on the City Council Chambers bulletin board for five (5) days prior to adoption.
