IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-087 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH BUILDING FUTURES FOR SHELTER OPERATIONS FOR AN AMOUNT NOT-TO- <br />EXCEED $200,000 IN HOMELESS HOUSING, ASSISTANCE, AND PREVENTION (HHAP) FUNDS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention (HHAP) grant program provides <br />flexible block grant funds to Continuums of Care, large cities, and counties to support regional <br />coordination and expand or develop local capacity to end and prevent homelessness in local communities <br />throughout the state of California; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro has been allocated $1,024,091 in HHAP funds, passed through <br />the County of Alameda; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Building Futures provides San Leandro individuals and families in need with shelter, <br />Domestic Violence support and advocacy, and housing services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Building Futures operates the San Leandro Shelter, a 30-bed shelter for women with <br />and without children that provides a warm and safe environment and support services designed to help <br />residents address the obstacles they face to ending their homelessness; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Building Futures additionally operates Sister Me Home, a 20-bed shelter with 24-hour <br />staffing and culturally appropriate support services which is open to all fleeing domestic violence, <br />regardless of gender identification; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Building Futures additionally administers emergency hotel vouchers during inclement <br />weather; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is familiar with the contents thereof; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends approval of said amendment. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City of San Leandro City Council does RESOLVE as follows: <br /> <br />That said agreement in the amount of $200,000 is hereby approved and execution by the City <br />Manager is hereby authorized. <br />Introduced by Councilmember Aguilar and passed and adopted on this 8th day of July 2024 by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers Aguilar, Azevedo, Ballew, Viveros-Walton, and Mayor González (5) <br /> <br />NOES: None (0) <br /> <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Bowen, Vice Mayor Simon (2)
